SOCAR stores 3 bcm of gas

Azerbaijan added 310 million cubic meters of gas to its reserve in underground facilities, bringing the volume to 2.96 billion cubic meters (bcm) by October 16.

Rahman Gurbanov, vice president for oil and gas transportation and gas facilities at Azerbaijans state oil company SOCAR, announced about this in his interview with Natural Gas World on November2.

Gurbanov said some 981 million cubic meters of the mentioned volume was left from 2015, while the exact amount of gas injection to two underground facilities, Kalmaz and Garadagh, during the current year was 1.336 billion cubic meters.

The amount of gas stored in Garadagh stood at 1.627 million cubic meters and the rest is stored in Kalmaz, he noted.

Garadagand Kalmaz gas storages facilities, which are on the balance of SOCAR, have a capacity of approximately five bcm of gas.

Azerbaijan's state energy company SOCAR, which is keen on expanding operations in the retail oil products market abroad, is involved in exploring oil and gas fields, producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate, marketing petroleum and petrochemical products in the domestic and international markets, and supplying natural gas to industry and the public in Azerbaijan.
