Peak of gas production on Shah-Deniz to be achieved in 2020

The planned peak of annual gas production at the second phase of Shah-Deniz gas condensate field development in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea will be 16 billion cub.m. in addition to 9 billion cub.m. produced at the first stage of the project development will be achieved in 2020, reported Oilgasenergy portal.
The evaluation of environment impact of the wide-scale development of Shah-Deniz field submitted to the public hearings in Baku on Tuesday leaves no doubt: the way of Azerbaijani gas to the European consumer will not be fast. According to the evaluation, the peak of the Shah-Deniz Phase-2 production of 16 billion cub.m. is planned to be achieved only in 2020, two years after commencing of production, reads the message.
The message reads that Bill Bolton, Ecology and Social Issues Manager of BP Azerbaijan, the project operator, said at the hearings that as soon as final investment decision is made till the end of 2013, the construction works will begin in 2014 and will be completed in 2016. The assembly works will be carried out in 2017 and the gas production will begin in 2018, added Bolton.
During the project it is planned to build two offshore platforms, drill 26 underwater wells, lay underwater pipelines, expand the Sangachal terminal and expand the South-Caucasian pipeline.
