SOCAR reduces Georgia's dependence on Russian gas

Georgia does not depend on Russia as much as it was in the past, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia said on Thursday.

He made this statement at the International Energy Forum in Tbilisi, RIA Novosti reported.

Kvirikashvili said Georgia and "Gazprom" held negotiation of a technical nature, which culminated in the agreement.

"We are not dependent on Russia as much as it was in the past", Kvirikashvili said.

The prime minister noted that the contract on energy was signed with Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR on more favorable terms.
