Topical themes of the Caspian Oil & Gas 2016 conference

On June 3, the 23rd International Caspian Oil & Gas Conference, which was organised by ITE Group plc and Iteca Caspian at the JW Marriott Absheron Baku Hotel, completed its work. This annual forum of the heads of leading companies, representatives of line ministries, and authoritative experts has become a traditional meeting point for the discussion of topical issues of the oil and gas industry.

The conference was attended by about 400 delegates from 30 countries. More than forty speakers, including representatives of government agencies, major players of the oil and gas market spoke about the key issues of production, management and transportation of energy resources.

The variety of key issues connected to the main theme of the conference was constantly addressed in discussions and lively exchanges of views on development issues facing the oil and gas industry against the backdrop of low oil prices. An important topic was Azerbaijans role in ensuring energy supplies to Europe. The issue was part of the speech by the Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, Natig Aliyev. Many foreign delegates noted the importance of this topic, as well as specifics of the expansion of the energy resource base in Azerbaijan.

In plenary sessions, representatives of SOCAR, BP, SAP, Petronas, Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), Nobel Upstream and others gave important presentations. This year, the conference discussed the training of specialists for oil and gas projects for the first time. Thanks to the wide range of communication in the conferences setting, Azerbaijan talked about its prospects and joint principles to implement global projects. Due to high rates of production, Azerbaijan has ensured its energy security and is participating in the largest project in the EU the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC), and 2nd Stage of Shah Deniz FFD.

As a result, two working days of the conference brought continued interest from professional groups of the world oil industry. In keeping with its tradition, the conference provided a lot of important information, and expanded opportunities for international cooperation in the oil and gas industry.
