SOCAR to increase Kulevi terminals capacity and optimizes its work given exported products range expansion

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is working to increase the capacity of its terminal in Georgian Kulevi (BST Ltd) in the Black Sea and the optimization of its work, taking into account the extension of the range of exported products.

SOCAR rep said that capacity of terminals reservoir park will be expanded up to 380,000 cu m from current 320,000 cu m.

"Also, optimization of terminals operation will be carried, in particular, in order to accelerate the shipment of petroleum products and output of chemical production," a SOCAR source said.

He linked the necessity of those works with the establishment of export of Sumgait chemical enterprises output through Kulevi terminal.

"Regular export of polyethylene (about 5,000-6,000 tons a month) and propylene (7,000-10,000 tons a month) has been organized from Azerbaijan to Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, countries of Europe," the SOCAR representative emphasized.
