Ankara, Baku and Ashgabat coordinate efforts to supply gas to Europe

Trilateral meeting of foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Turkmenistan in Antalya on August 28 focused on transport and energy projects with the participation of these countries.

Following the meeting, the ministers signed a joint statement and held a press conference, reads the information of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan. The paper noted that the trilateral cooperation is aimed at the transportation of Turkmen and Azerbaijani gas through Turkey.

The parties intend to use the potential of their countries for their transformation into a single transport corridor.

To address these issues the parties intend to establish a tripartite commission on various issues.

The declaration noted that the project "Marmara" (the tunnel under the Bosporus), the railway Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the ports of Alat (Azerbaijan) and Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan) will make a significant contribution to the development of the region. The foreign ministers also discussed the issue of creating a transport corridor "Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey".

The ministers also discussed the preparation of the meeting of presidents of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Turkey in October in Turkmenistan, where it is expected the signing of tripartite agreements on cooperation in the field of transport and energy.

The document notes that the next meeting of foreign ministers of the three countries will be held in Azerbaijan.
